The Single-Handed Team is a unique team as it consists of some of the best sailors from across the North Shore, many whom are coaches themselves.

How much does the program cost?
The Spring Season (September - November) will cost $300 coaching fees.
Where is the program located?
The North Shore Sailing Team is run out of the WVYC due to its full time staff and exceptional facilities. WVYC is located at 5854 Marine Drive in West Vancouver.
What is Single-Handed?
Single Handed refers to sailing a boat by yourself. The NSST Single Handed team trains is Lasers, either Full Rig (160-200lbs) or Radial (130-160 lbs) or 4.7 (110 - 130 lbs). These boats are only differentiated by the different in their sail area.
What if we do not own a boat?
Boats may be chartered (rental) from WVYC, EHYC, DCYC, or HSC for each season. The cost of chartering varies depending on the club, and demand is high for this boats due to limited supply. Please contact you home yacht club's sailing director for more information or contact Graeme Clendenan at singlehanded@northshoresailingteam.com. Most members on the NSST own their own boats.
Do we need to be a member of WVYC to participate in this program?
No. You must be a Junior Member of one of the member clubs. To store boats at WVYC you must pay a storage fee of $75 annually. Please check out the website a www.wvyc.bc.ca or e-mail sailingdirector@wvyc.bc.ca for more information.
What days do they train? How do I check if practice is on?
The Single-handed team trains from 4pm-7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Noon-4pm on Saturdays. You can check current schedules by clicking on schedules link on the left hand side.
What does the Coaching Fee cover?
The coaching fee covers 33 Practices or 132 hours of coaching. The coaching fee however does NOT cover regatta coaching as those are treated seperately due to participation.
